The Opportunity:
As a Senior Attendance Officer, you will work closely with students and families to improve attendance and support student achievement. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and is dedicated to fostering positive relationships and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and implement the school’s attendance policy to ensure compliance and improvement in student attendance.
- Work with identified students and their families to address attendance barriers and support them in achieving better outcomes.
- Record, monitor, evaluate, and report on attendance data regularly to inform school strategies and interventions.
- Conduct home visits as required to engage with families and provide support and guidance.
- Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
- Provide regular updates to the Assistant Vice Principal and senior leadership team on attendance trends and interventions.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and carers to foster a culture of attendance and engagement.
- Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing through proactive engagement and intervention.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within education or youth services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students and families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of organisation and attention to detail.
- Experience in managing attendance data and reporting on key metrics.
- A valid driving license and willingness to travel for home visits.
Preferred
- Experience in pastoral care or student support services.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Experience in working with families from diverse backgrounds.
- Previous experience in a school setting, particularly within a Church of England academy.
- Familiarity with continuous professional development and a commitment to lifelong learning.
