The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with complex needs, including those with developmental trauma, neurodivergent profiles, or SEMH challenges. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with a range of communication needs.
  • Work collaboratively with education and clinical teams to support pupils in achieving their full potential.
  • Maintain a caseload and provide regular updates and reports to supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required, sharing your expertise and best practices.
  • Follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
  • Engage with families, carers, and other professionals to support the holistic development of pupils.
  • Stay up to date with current research and best practices in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Support the implementation of individualized support plans based on pupil needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting.
  • Experience working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience of communicating with families, carers, and professionals.
  • Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Competent in core areas of Speech and Language Therapy practice.
  • Knowledge of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Familiarity with a range of Speech and Language Therapy assessment tools and intervention methods.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
  • Knowledge of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
