The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to students with complex communication needs. This is a unique opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting students in developing independence and communication skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to students with developmental trauma, neurodivergent needs, or SEMH challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team and other professionals to support pupils' communication development.
  • Maintain a caseload of students, managing their individual needs and progress in line with professional standards.
  • Contribute to staff training and provide consultation as required.
  • Ensure all practice aligns with the Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and relevant legislation.
  • Develop and implement support plans based on individual needs profiles.
  • Engage with families and carers to support pupils' communication development.
  • Attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT.
  • Experience working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience of communicating with/working with families and carers.
  • Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention, and how to formulate support plans.
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
  • Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
  • Full driving license and access to a car.
