The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with neurodivergent needs, developmental trauma, or SEMH challenges. This is a chance to work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting pupils in building independence and communication skills in a dynamic education setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Work collaboratively with education teams and other professionals to support pupils' communication and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain a caseload of pupils, ensuring consistent and high-quality therapeutic support.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation, sharing expertise and best practices.
  • Stay up to date with professional standards and RCSLT communication guidelines.
  • Develop and implement support plans based on individual needs profiles.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in research projects, training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC and RCSLT registered.
  • NQTs with SEND experience are welcome to apply.
  • Relevant experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working across different settings.
  • Experience of communicating with families and carers.
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention strategies.
  • Awareness of legislation impacting clinical practice and professional management.
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications.
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Preferred

  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication.
  • Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
