The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist assessment and intervention to pupils with neurodivergent needs, developmental trauma, or SEMH challenges. This is a chance to work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting pupils in building independence and communication skills in a dynamic education setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Work collaboratively with education teams and other professionals to support pupils' communication and learning outcomes.
- Maintain a caseload of pupils, ensuring consistent and high-quality therapeutic support.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation, sharing expertise and best practices.
- Stay up to date with professional standards and RCSLT communication guidelines.
- Develop and implement support plans based on individual needs profiles.
- Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in research projects, training, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC and RCSLT registered.
- NQTs with SEND experience are welcome to apply.
- Relevant experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working across different settings.
- Experience of communicating with families and carers.
- Strong relationship-building, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
- Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention strategies.
- Awareness of legislation impacting clinical practice and professional management.
- Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications.
- Full valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Preferred
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication.
- Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Up to £53,200 FTE DOE.
- £2000 CPD training allowance.
