The Opportunity:

As the Subject Leader for Music, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the Music curriculum and leading a passionate team of educators. This is an opportunity to inspire students, drive academic success, and create a vibrant, creative learning environment from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a dynamic and innovative Music curriculum across Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Inspire and support a team of Music teachers, providing professional guidance and mentorship.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular links and student engagement.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, creativity, and inclusion within the department.
  • Represent the Music department in school-wide meetings and events.
  • Stay up to date with current educational research and best practices in Music education.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of school facilities and resources for Music teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department or team.
  • Strong subject knowledge and experience in teaching Music at Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality lessons and inspire student achievement.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and technologies in Music education.
  • Experience with inclusive teaching strategies and differentiation.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
