The Opportunity:
Join a dynamic English and Literature department as a Teacher of English on a maternity cover basis starting in September 2026. This role offers the potential to transition into a full-time position and is ideal for educators passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective English lessons to Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 students
- Plan and prepare lesson content that aligns with curriculum requirements
- Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment that encourages student participation and growth
- Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across the school to support student development
- Support students in developing strong literacy, writing, and critical thinking skills
- Maintain discipline and manage the classroom in a positive and constructive manner
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them achieve their full potential
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar, literature, and writing
- Experience or training in teaching English at the secondary level
- Ability to plan and deliver lessons that meet curriculum standards
- Good communication skills with students and colleagues
- Basic classroom management skills
Preferred
- Experience working with young people in a school setting
- Familiarity with Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 curricula
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
- Commitment to continuous professional development
