The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic English and Literature department as a Teacher of English on a maternity cover basis starting in September 2026. This role offers the potential to transition into a full-time position and is ideal for educators passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective English lessons to Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 students
  • Plan and prepare lesson content that aligns with curriculum requirements
  • Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment that encourages student participation and growth
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across the school to support student development
  • Support students in developing strong literacy, writing, and critical thinking skills
  • Maintain discipline and manage the classroom in a positive and constructive manner
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to help them achieve their full potential

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong command of the English language, including grammar, literature, and writing
  • Experience or training in teaching English at the secondary level
  • Ability to plan and deliver lessons that meet curriculum standards
  • Good communication skills with students and colleagues
  • Basic classroom management skills

Preferred

  • Experience working with young people in a school setting
  • Familiarity with Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 curricula
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
