The Opportunity:

A Temporary Music Teacher is required to cover a maternity leave period starting in September 2026. The role involves delivering high-quality music education at KS3 and KS4, including GCSE (Edexcel), and contributing to a vibrant extra-curricular program and enrichment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective music lessons at KS3 and KS4, including GCSE (Edexcel).
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the school’s extra-curricular music program, including choir, bands, and music technology.
  • Support the school’s tradition of European Music Performance tours and participation in external musical events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-quality music education experience.
  • Manage and support students in both academic and performance-based aspects of the music curriculum.
  • Participate in school events, including annual Arts Production and school concerts.
  • Work with peripatetic tutors to enhance student learning and performance opportunities.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience teaching Music at KS3 and KS4
  • Ability to deliver GCSE (Edexcel) Music curriculum
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or contributing to extra-curricular music programs
  • Experience with Music Technology
  • Experience in performing or conducting music
  • Experience in working with students of all abilities
  • Experience in collaborative teaching and professional development
