The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate A Level Sociology and Criminology Teacher to join a successful and expanding department. This role offers the opportunity to inspire and engage students, delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences that support academic success and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality AQA Sociology and/or WJEC Criminology lessons that are engaging, inclusive, and challenge students to achieve their full potential.
  • Support students through effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies that maximise academic outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the department to develop and implement a cohesive and innovative curriculum.
  • Contribute to the wider curriculum, including pastoral and extra-curricular activities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Participate in staff development and training to enhance teaching and learning practices.
  • Engage in regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in teaching AQA Sociology and/or WJEC Criminology at A Level.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging and challenging lessons.
  • Experience of working in a school or college environment, ideally within a sixth form setting.
  • Commitment to student welfare and the promotion of a positive learning culture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading curriculum initiatives.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and the use of technology in the classroom.
  • Experience with pastoral support and student engagement strategies.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
