The Opportunity:
As an After School Care Assistant, you will help deliver a purposeful, creative and nurturing extension of the school day for children. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners and contribute to the development of a growing after school provision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the welfare, safety and wellbeing of children through high-quality care and supervision
- Plan and deliver a stimulating range of age-appropriate activities, including creative, physical and enrichment opportunities
- Create an organised, engaging and well-resourced play environment
- Build genuine, positive relationships with children and support their social and emotional development
- Reflect on practice and adapt provision to meet the individual needs of children
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers and school staff to ensure strong communication and consistency
- Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality at all times
- Contribute to the effective handling of concerns, incidents or complaints in a professional manner
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with primary-aged children in a school, childcare or play setting
- Ability to create a safe, inclusive, stimulating and welcoming environment where every child feels valued and happy
- High expectations of behaviour and the ability to build positive relationships with children and families
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the provision
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
Preferred
- Experience in planning and delivering creative, physical and enrichment activities
- Experience in reflecting on practice and adapting provision to meet the needs of children
- Experience in working collaboratively with parents, carers and school staff
- Experience in maintaining accurate records and ensuring confidentiality
- Experience in contributing to the handling of concerns, incidents or complaints
