The Opportunity:
A Learning Support Practitioner is needed to provide one-to-one support to a Year 4 pupil with ADHD and ASD, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and develop independence. This role is integral to ensuring the pupil’s success within the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent one-to-one support for a Year 4 pupil in line with the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Adapt tasks, instructions, and resources to meet the pupil’s individual learning and sensory needs.
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, attention, and positive behaviour.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to plan, deliver, and review support.
- Monitor and report on the pupil’s progress against EHCP targets.
- Encourage independence and social communication skills.
- Support transitions throughout the school day to ensure the pupil feels secure and prepared.
- Liaise effectively with parents, SENCo, and external professionals.
- Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.
- Engage in professional development to stay informed on ASD, ADHD, and inclusive education.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 3 NVQ award or equivalent.
- Experience supporting young people with Autism.
- Understanding of child development and learning processes.
- Awareness of different types of SEN and strategies to support them.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with children facing challenges.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
Preferred
- Experience with ADHD support strategies.
- Knowledge of EHCP implementation.
- Experience in inclusive education settings.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment.
