The Opportunity:

As a Family Liaison Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the safeguarding and wellbeing of students. This is a dynamic and impactful position that requires a passion for improving outcomes for children and families. You will work closely with the DSL and external agencies to ensure the highest standards of care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the DSL as a DDSL to ensure the highest standard of safeguarding and care are given to students.
  • Support children to improve school attendance and engage with relevant activities.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate families to understand the benefits of educational and community activities.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to support student and family needs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date administration, reports, and caseload records.
  • Work as part of a team to identify and plan support to address issues and prevent problems from escalating.
  • Stay up-to-date on local service provision for appropriate signposting and referrals.
  • Establish positive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents, and families.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Secure understanding of safeguarding and up-to-date knowledge of KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education).
  • Experience of supporting children to improve school attendance.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate and up-to-date administration, reports, and caseload records.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to identify and plan support.

Preferred

  • Experience with coaching, mentoring, and motivating families.
  • Experience of working with external agencies and professionals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of local service provision for signposting and referrals.
