The Opportunity:

As an Afterschool Care Leader, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the afterschool program and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for children. This is a key role in supporting the school community and fostering positive relationships with students and parents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise age-appropriate activities for children across all year groups.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in a warm, inclusive environment.
  • Take attendance registers and communicate effectively with parents at pick-up times.
  • Prepare and serve light refreshments to students.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to maintain high standards of care and support.
  • Create a fun, structured, and nurturing atmosphere throughout the afternoon session.
  • Monitor and report on student behavior and progress as required.
  • Support the implementation of the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum Level 2 Childcare qualification.
  • Experience working with children in a care or educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or managing afterschool programs.
  • Knowledge of child development and play-based learning.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during school holidays.
  • Experience with attendance tracking and parent communication systems.
