Retail and Hospitality Tutor needed for a school offering practical, hands-on education.

About the School:

A school dedicated to helping young people aged 15–25 who have struggled in traditional education settings. It offers a supportive, flexible environment with a focus on personal development and practical learning.

The Opportunity:

A Retail & Hospitality Tutor is needed to deliver a practical course that helps young people build confidence and essential skills. This role requires a calm, consistent approach and a passion for teaching in a non-traditional setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver practical sessions based on the Introduction to Retail and Hospitality curriculum
  • Teach essential skills such as customer service, barista basics, and retail processes
  • Help learners build confidence in communication, teamwork, and working environments
  • Embed Functional Skills in Maths and English at the appropriate level
  • Adapt teaching methods to support learners with a range of needs, including SEND and SEMH
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with learners to support engagement
  • Use calm, consistent, and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour and wellbeing
  • Track progress, attendance, and EHCP outcomes accurately
  • Collaborate with LSAs and other staff to create a joined-up learning experience
  • Support learners in making next steps towards further learning, work, or training

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience teaching or delivering structured learning with a clear understanding of lesson planning and progress tracking
  • Confidence managing the day-to-day responsibilities of a teaching role
  • Experience in retail, hospitality, or customer-facing work, or training in these environments
  • A Level 3 Award in Education & Training (or equivalent), or be working towards it with prior teaching experience
  • Understanding of safeguarding, SEND, and trauma-informed practice
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain clearly and simply
  • Good organisational skills and confidence with record keeping
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft 365)

Preferred

  • Experience working with young people who have SEMH or neurodivergent needs
  • Experience with Functional Skills delivery
  • A full UK driving licence
