The Opportunity:

Join a high-performing secondary leadership team as an Assistant Head Teacher Secondary. This role is ideal for an experienced academic leader ready to drive improvement in teaching, learning, and data-informed practice across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning across the secondary phase
  • Use data and tracking systems to monitor progress, identify trends, and implement interventions
  • Support and challenge departments to deliver consistently strong outcomes
  • Contribute to curriculum design, review, and innovation
  • Monitor, evaluate, and quality assure academic provision across subjects
  • Support staff development and hold others to account with clarity and professionalism
  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of whole-school assessment, feedback, and reporting frameworks
  • Use assessment intelligently to inform teaching, intervention, and improvement

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A well-read and research-informed practitioner, confident in translating evidence into practice
  • Strong curriculum and pedagogical understanding with experience of driving academic improvement
  • Technical strength in data analysis, progress tracking, and action planning
  • A proven record of securing high student outcomes through effective leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and deliver change
