The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Headteacher - Safeguarding and Inclusion, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students. This is a key leadership position that supports the school’s mission to create a supportive and inclusive environment for every child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee safeguarding policies and procedures across the school.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote inclusion and support for vulnerable students.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to ensure the safety and welfare of students.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on safeguarding and inclusion matters.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding and inclusion initiatives.
  • Represent the school at relevant meetings and conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements related to safeguarding.
  • Support the Headteacher in maintaining a culture of safety and respect.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation.
  • Experience in developing and implementing inclusion strategies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and external agencies.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a large, high-performing school or academy.
  • Experience with curriculum development and student support programs.
  • Familiarity with the Ofsted inspection framework.
  • Experience in managing school-wide behaviour policies.
