Job Description

Summary:

The school provides specialist support for students aged 8 to 19 with autism and challenging behaviour. It offers a safe, structured environment to help young people develop independence and life skills.

The Opportunity:

As a Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting and educating young people with autism and complex needs. You will help create a nurturing and engaging learning environment tailored to the individual needs of each student. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and support young people with autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD, and associated complex needs.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, structured lessons tailored to the needs of individual pupils.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods to meet the strengths and needs of each learner.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
  • Collaborate with other staff to create a safe and structured learning environment.
  • Support students in developing life skills and preparing for adulthood.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Promote the welfare and emotional well-being of all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching and supporting young people with autism and complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of effective teaching and assessment practices in early and lower key stages.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated resilience and a caring, compassionate approach to working with vulnerable young people.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in behaviour management and working with students with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience in developing life skills and preparing students for adulthood.
