The Opportunity:

As an Assistant SENCo, you will play a key role in supporting the SENDCo in delivering high-quality support for students with special educational needs and disabilities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENDCo in overseeing the day-to-day management of the SEND provision.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans and provision maps.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students with SEND and intervene as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure students’ needs are met.
  • Contribute to staff training and raise awareness of SEND strategies and best practice.
  • Support the coordination of meetings and communication with stakeholders.
  • Assist in the evaluation of SEND provision and the development of strategies to improve outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support.
  • Experience in working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar SENCo or assistant SENCo role.
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans.
  • Experience in staff training and professional development.
