The Opportunity:
As an Assistant SENCo, you will play a key role in supporting the SENDCo in delivering high-quality support for students with special educational needs and disabilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the SENDCo in overseeing the day-to-day management of the SEND provision.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans and provision maps.
- Monitor and track the progress of students with SEND and intervene as appropriate.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure students’ needs are met.
- Contribute to staff training and raise awareness of SEND strategies and best practice.
- Support the coordination of meetings and communication with stakeholders.
- Assist in the evaluation of SEND provision and the development of strategies to improve outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support.
- Experience in working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar SENCo or assistant SENCo role.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice.
- Experience in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans.
- Experience in staff training and professional development.
