Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding leadership to develop and maintain an innovative and effective Computer Science department.
- Drive the development of high-quality teaching practices, curriculum design, and assessment strategies.
- Monitor and support student progress through data-driven interventions and targeted strategies.
- Lead and develop a team through coaching, appraisal, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure a safe, productive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
- Contribute to whole-school strategic planning, self-evaluation, and quality assurance processes.
- Manage departmental resources, budget planning, and exam entries efficiently.
- Promote high expectations, positive behaviour, and a culture of achievement across the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong academic background in Computer Science and proven experience as a Computer Science practitioner.
- Successful middle leadership experience or the potential to lead effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to improve outcomes, lead change, and raise standards in education.
- Solid knowledge of contemporary pedagogy and curriculum design.
- Ability to use data to set expectations, track progress, and improve student outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, and ICT skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and the values-driven ethos of the institution.
Preferred
- Experience in leading departmental development and strategic planning.
- Familiarity with multi-academy trust structures and collaborative working.
- Experience in delivering training or professional development to staff.
- Background in computing education at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Passion for supporting both staff and student growth and development.
