The Opportunity:
As an Assistant SENDCO, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. Working closely with the SENDCO and external agencies, you will ensure timely and effective support is delivered to students. This is a key role in shaping the provision of SEND across the school and making a real difference in student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the SENDCO in leading and implementing provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Work in partnership with students, parents, and external agencies to deliver effective support and track student progress.
- Coordinate and manage The Bridge, ensuring it meets the needs of students and aligns with school policy.
- Contribute to the development and review of individual education plans and support strategies.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on SEND-related matters.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support provision across the school.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a consistent and inclusive approach to student support.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Previous experience of supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities in a school setting.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and external agencies.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Understanding of the legal and policy frameworks relating to SEND.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior support role within a school setting.
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices and strategies.
- Experience with the implementation of support plans and interventions.
- Strong leadership and initiative in a SEND context.
- Familiarity with the role of the SENDCO and the broader school support system.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary within AGS Pay Scale Band E.15 - E.17.
- 35 hours per week with a structured working week.
