The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Assistant SENDCo to support the school’s inclusion strategy and provide vital assistance to pupils with special educational needs. This role is central to ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the school’s SEND policy and inclusion strategy.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure the needs of SEND pupils are met.
  • Monitor and review the progress of SEND pupils and provide regular updates to relevant staff.
  • Assist in the identification and assessment of students with special educational needs.
  • Develop and deliver training for staff on SEND-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on SEND pupils and interventions.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and support across the school community.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to ensure that SEND provision aligns with school goals and policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a SEND or pastoral role within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to inclusion and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within a school rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
  • Qualifications in SEND or special educational needs support.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training on SEND topics.
  • Familiarity with the Golborne Way and the school’s values.
