The Opportunity:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to develop essential communication and social skills. Using a trauma-informed approach, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver individualised interventions that help students thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based speech and language therapy interventions tailored to individual student needs.
  • Assess, plan, and review intervention strategies in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, families, and other professionals to support student progress.
  • Promote emotional regulation and positive social interaction through trauma-informed practices.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support functional communication and engagement in learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student outcomes to ensure interventions are effective and impactful.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on communication support strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with school and statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with relevant professional registration.
  • Experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of assessment and intervention strategies for speech, language, and communication development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in delivering trauma-informed support and interventions.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Experience with social and emotional development support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
