The Opportunity:

As a Business Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient day-to-day operations of the school, supporting strategic initiatives, and ensuring a collaborative and positive working environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, supportive, and innovative educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage daily tasks and issues requiring resolution by support services teams, escalating as necessary
  • Support the Head, SLT, and Prep Schools’ Bursar in developing and implementing strategic initiatives
  • Line manage key operational staff and ensure appropriate resourcing for school operations and events
  • Manage the Estates Manager, Head of Grounds, and other key staff to maintain high service standards
  • Oversee the maintenance and management of the school’s vehicle fleet
  • Take ownership of the budgets for the teams managed by this role
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency of school operations
  • Liaise with commercial colleagues to align lettings activities with school operations

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Background in facilities/estate management, school administration, or operations management
  • Experience in managing budgets and teams
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships
  • Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
  • Strong IT skills and willingness to learn new systems
  • Excellent oral and written English
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • High levels of personal and professional integrity

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school environment
  • Knowledge of ISI regulations and inspections
  • Experience with ‘Safer Recruitment’ in schools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ISAMs
