The Opportunity:
As a Careers and University Guidance Counsellor, you will support students in navigating their post-secondary options, providing expert guidance and advocacy throughout the university application process. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping students achieve their academic and career aspirations on a global scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized guidance to students in Grade 10 and above regarding university and career pathways.
- Advocate for students throughout the college application process, ensuring equity and clarity.
- Support students in setting realistic, achievable goals aligned with their strengths and aspirations.
- Collaborate with the IB Coordinator to ensure clear post-IB pathways for students.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international university admissions requirements and trends.
- Offer expert advice on post-secondary options, including universities, colleges, and vocational pathways.
- Support families in understanding admission timelines and decision-making processes.
- Build strong relationships with global universities and post-secondary institutions.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and guidance conversations.
- Plan and organize university fairs, campus visits, and information sessions.
- Coordinate visits from university representatives to enhance student exposure to global opportunities.
- Work closely with school leadership, teachers, and parents to support student success.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in university admissions guidance, careers counselling, or a related educational role.
- Strong knowledge of international higher education systems, particularly in Europe, the UK, the USA, Canada, and Asia.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of technological proficiency; experience with digital application platforms is an advantage.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in counselling, education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Portuguese university admissions.
