The Opportunity:

As an IB English A: Language and Literature Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students’ critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills. You will guide students through both Internal and External Assessments, contributing to a supportive and inspiring learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons for IB English A: Language and Literature at Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL).
  • Support students in preparing for IB Internal Assessments (Individual Oral, HL Essay) and External Assessments (Paper 1: Textual Analysis, Paper 2: Comparative Essay).
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to enhance students’ analytical and communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in IB reporting and moderation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning, professional development, and cross-disciplinary initiatives.
  • Engage with students, parents, and the school community to support student success and well-being.
  • Supervise and mentor students undertaking the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course and Extended Essay (EE), as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching IB English A (Language and Literature or Literature) or an equivalent advanced secondary curriculum (e.g., A-Level, AP, IGCSE).
  • Strong understanding of the IB curriculum and assessment criteria.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learning needs.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • IB Category 1/2 training in English A or experience moderating IB assessments.
  • Experience teaching in an international school or multicultural environment.
  • Familiarity with IB Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Extended Essay (EE) supervision.
