The Opportunity:

As a Course Leader in the Business department, you will lead and manage English and Maths programmes, supporting teaching staff and ensuring an outstanding learner experience. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development and make a real impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coordinate and oversee English and Maths programmes within the department.
• Provide day-to-day support, guidance and leadership to teaching staff.
• Teach a small number of hours across GCSE and Functional Skills Maths for 16–18-year-olds and adult learners.
• Ensure consistently high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
• Monitor learner progress and outcomes to maintain excellent success rates.
• Shape and develop the curriculum to meet learner needs and sector expectations.
• Maintain accurate records, data and quality documentation.
• Contribute to a positive, motivating learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Minimum of two years’ relevant work experience
• Experience teaching English and/or Maths (GCSE or Functional Skills)
• A teaching qualification, or willingness to achieve one
• Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills
• Creativity, innovation and the drive to help shape curriculum development

Preferred

• Experience in line management or staff coordination
• An internal verifier qualification, or willingness to work towards it
