The Opportunity:

As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting learners aged 14–16 to achieve their academic and personal goals. You will provide guidance, encouragement, and resources to help students overcome barriers to learning and build confidence. This is a rewarding role that makes a real difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support learners through one-to-one sessions, small group activities, and structured tutorials
  • Deliver engaging group tutorials and study sessions to enhance academic success
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and progress, while providing pastoral care and guidance
  • Work closely with learners, parents, guardians, and external agencies to ensure effective support
  • Help learners set and review targets, and provide advice on academic and personal matters
  • Build positive relationships with students and stakeholders to foster a supportive learning environment
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure learners receive the right guidance and interventions
  • Provide referrals to support services when needed, and maintain accurate records and administrative tasks

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree or equivalent professional Level 5 qualification in a relevant field
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2)
  • 2+ years’ experience working with young people
  • Experience in teaching, delivering tutorials, or providing pastoral care
  • Experience working with young people in an educational setting

Preferred

  • Experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience supporting learners on a one-to-one or in small group settings
  • Understanding of the challenges learners may face academically, socially, or personally
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to learner development and personal growth
