The Opportunity:

As a Cover Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless learning for students by managing staff absences and delivering engaging cover lessons. This dual-role position offers hands-on classroom experience and the chance to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage daily cover schedules for all teaching staff, ensuring classes are adequately supervised.
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects and year groups, maintaining student engagement and learning continuity.
  • Act as the central point of contact for internal and external cover staff, providing clear and timely communication.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cover arrangements, including managing the cover system and preparing daily cover sheets.
  • Ensure all cover staff are aware of and comply with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Start early each morning to organise and publish the daily cover schedule by 8am.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to deliver engaging lessons across multiple subjects and year groups.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding principles and policies.

Preferred

  • Experience as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA, or Unqualified Teacher.
  • Experience with school management information systems (MIS) or cover management software.
  • A teaching qualification (QTS) or equivalent.
