The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Academics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the Secondary School. This is an opportunity to lead curriculum development, support staff growth, and drive student achievement in a high-performing, globally recognized institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead teaching and learning across the Secondary School, maintaining the highest academic standards.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Support and develop Heads of Department and subject leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Lead professional development initiatives to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Play a key role in recruitment, retention, and performance management of teaching staff.
  • Analyse student progress data to inform strategic improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Head Teacher to shape and deliver the school’s academic vision and priorities.
  • Contribute to self-evaluation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
  • Proven leadership experience as a Head of Department or senior academic leader in an outstanding school.
  • Deep understanding of the British National Curriculum and IGCSE, with a track record of raising student achievement.
  • Experience leading professional development and supporting teacher growth.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive improvement.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, student welfare, and wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience with IB programmes.
  • Italian language skills.
