The Opportunity:
As Deputy Head of Academics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the Secondary School. This is an opportunity to lead curriculum development, support staff growth, and drive student achievement in a high-performing, globally recognized institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead teaching and learning across the Secondary School, maintaining the highest academic standards.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Support and develop Heads of Department and subject leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Lead professional development initiatives to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
- Play a key role in recruitment, retention, and performance management of teaching staff.
- Analyse student progress data to inform strategic improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with the Head Teacher to shape and deliver the school’s academic vision and priorities.
- Contribute to self-evaluation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree and recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
- Proven leadership experience as a Head of Department or senior academic leader in an outstanding school.
- Deep understanding of the British National Curriculum and IGCSE, with a track record of raising student achievement.
- Experience leading professional development and supporting teacher growth.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive improvement.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, student welfare, and wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience with IB programmes.
- Italian language skills.
