The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Academics, you will play a pivotal role in driving academic leadership and innovation across the school. This is a chance to influence curriculum, teaching, and learning strategies while supporting the school’s vision for excellence and student development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and develop the curriculum, ensuring it remains innovative and aligned with the school’s academic vision.
  • Support and lead the teaching and learning strategies across all year groups.
  • Work closely with the Headmistress and senior leadership team to shape academic policies and standards.
  • Promote professional development and continuous improvement among academic staff.
  • Ensure the delivery of high academic standards and student outcomes.
  • Lead the development of assessment strategies and technological integration in teaching.
  • Foster a culture of intellectual curiosity, inclusivity, and scholarship across the school.
  • Collaborate with governors to ensure academic goals are met and aligned with the school’s mission.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in academic settings, preferably within an independent school.
  • Strong background in curriculum development and assessment strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead academic staff.
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation of academic policies.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and the school’s values.

Preferred

  • Experience with technological innovation in education.
  • Background in leading successful academic teams.
  • Familiarity with the Complete Education model or similar holistic learning approaches.
  • Experience in co-curricular programme development or student leadership initiatives.
