The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Head of Additional Support / SENCO to lead and support the school’s commitment to inclusive education. This role is central to ensuring that all students receive the support they need to achieve their full potential within a high-performing institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Additional Support Needs (ASN) provision across the school, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practice.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students with additional needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to coordinate support and interventions for students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support services and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide professional development and training for staff on inclusive teaching practices and ASN-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and support interventions.
  • Represent the school at meetings, conferences, and external inspections as required.
  • Ensure that the school’s policies and procedures on ASN are consistently followed and updated as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in additional support or special educational needs.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of ASN policy, legal frameworks, and inclusive education practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Experience of working in a school rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
  • Experience in developing and implementing SENCO strategies.
  • Knowledge of alternative provision and pastoral care systems.
