The Opportunity:

As the Deputy Head of English Department, you will play a vital role in leading and supporting the English team, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning aligned with the Cambridge guidelines. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to shape curriculum delivery and inspire both students and teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the English department in line with the school’s academic goals and Cambridge guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and curricula.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning across the department to maintain high standards.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for English teachers.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the department.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of lessons that meet the needs of all students.
  • Stay up to date with educational trends and integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Represent the English department in meetings and external events as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant subject; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Significant teaching experience, preferably in a British curriculum setting.
  • Previous leadership experience, such as coordinator or lead teacher.
  • Strong understanding of Cambridge guidelines and curriculum development.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support teaching and departmental administration.
  • Valid background check and suitability to work with children.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum design and instructional planning.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and teacher performance.
  • Experience in mentoring and training teachers.
  • Familiarity with international education standards and best practices.
