The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Mathematics, you will play a key role in leading and developing the maths department. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the maths department in delivering a high-quality, engaging curriculum
  • Work closely with the Head of Maths to drive up attainment and progress across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
  • Deliver outstanding teaching and learning, inspiring a love of mathematics in students
  • Provide academic mentoring and pastoral support to a tutor group
  • Collaborate with colleagues on shared planning, resources, and units of work
  • Support the school’s mission by enhancing student cultural capital and self-worth
  • Participate in continuous professional development and coaching sessions
  • Contribute to the school’s culture of engagement and purpose through leadership and mentorship

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a teacher of mathematics at secondary level
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Commitment to student achievement and pastoral care
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, knowledge-based teaching
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school or MAT
  • Background in academic mentoring or pastoral support
  • Experience with CPD delivery or coaching
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement frameworks
  • Experience in driving student engagement and cultural capital development
