The Opportunity:
As the Director of Development, you will lead the school’s fundraising and community engagement efforts, playing a pivotal role in advancing its long-term vision and strategic priorities. This is a dynamic and influential role that offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact through philanthropy and engagement with a global network of supporters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the development office, overseeing fundraising, alumni relations, and community engagement initiatives.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow major gifts, regular giving, and legacy fundraising programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including past pupils, parents, and donors.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership, governors, and the global King’s community to inspire philanthropy and engagement.
- Deliver high-impact fundraising campaigns aligned with the school’s strategic goals and five-year Philanthropy and Engagement Strategy.
- Support the launch and growth of new fundraising initiatives, including The Charter Awards and other strategic programs.
- Oversee and mentor a team of development professionals, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and vision.
- Monitor and report on fundraising performance, ensuring transparency and accountability in all initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in fundraising or development, ideally within an educational or not-for-profit setting.
- Strong track record in managing and growing major gifts, regular giving, and legacy programs.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, and key stakeholders.
- Experience in developing and executing strategic fundraising campaigns.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Commitment to the values and mission of an independent school.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a development team or department.
- Familiarity with fundraising software and CRM systems.
- Knowledge of educational fundraising trends and best practices.
- Experience with large-scale fundraising campaigns or endowment growth initiatives.
- Understanding of the international education sector and global donor networks.
