The Opportunity:

As the Head of Athletic Development, you will be responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive athletic programme that supports student wellbeing, performance, and competitive success. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on student development and to lead a dynamic team within a forward-thinking institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a long-term athletic development pathway for students across a range of sports.
  • Deliver high-quality training sessions focusing on movement, speed, agility, mobility and injury prevention.
  • Support elite athletes competing at academy, county and national levels.
  • Collaborate with the sports department to promote a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with students, staff and external partners to enhance sporting opportunities and outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of athletic programmes and make data-driven improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and welfare standards in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant degree in a discipline such as sports science, strength and conditioning or athletic development.
  • UKSCA accreditation or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in athletic development for young athletes.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload and meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience in working within a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of elite sports performance and talent development.
  • Experience with coaching or training at national competition level.
  • Familiarity with sports technology and data analysis tools.
