The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Drama Teacher to join a dynamic and successful department. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students, lead engaging lessons, and contribute to a vibrant extra-curricular programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students achieve outstanding GCSE results and develop essential life skills through drama.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging drama lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Support students in developing key skills such as communication, self-assertion, and group collaboration.
  • Plan and deliver a curriculum that includes set texts, devised work, and theatre trips.
  • Collaborate with other departments, particularly Music and Dance, to enhance cross-curricular learning.
  • Organise and direct annual drama productions in purpose-built spaces.
  • Provide individualised support to students aiming to progress further in drama and related careers.
  • Participate in and contribute to departmental and school-wide professional development.
  • Attend and lead extra-curricular activities and performances.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in drama education.
  • Strong knowledge of the AQA GCSE Drama syllabus and teaching methods.
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
  • Experience in directing drama productions and managing large groups of students.
  • Commitment to student development and extra-curricular engagement.

Preferred

  • Experience in collaborative teaching across the curriculum.
  • Background in drama pedagogy and reflective practice.
  • Experience with theatre trips and live performance opportunities.
  • Familiarity with mindfulness and staff wellbeing initiatives.
