The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified English Teacher to join a supportive department and cover a maternity leave. This role presents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student learning and contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s English curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to students aged 11-16, ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Support students of all abilities, providing additional help where needed and challenging those who excel.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment in line with the school’s no-excuses policy.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff training, and other school activities.
  • Prepare and manage teaching resources and materials effectively.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to support student learning and development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a valid teaching qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in teaching English at secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a commitment to academic excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and take responsibility for student progress.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
  • Familiarity with supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience in using digital tools and resources in the classroom.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
