As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with their learning and general wellbeing, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
- Establish warm, caring relationships with pupils to promote independence and self-esteem.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering a challenging and differentiated curriculum.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Support transport of students as required, including offsite learning activities such as trips and outdoor education.
- Contribute to record-keeping, teamwork, and the overall smooth running of the classroom.
- Assist with care needs and provide support during times of emotional or behavioural challenge.
- Be flexible and adaptable, ready to assist with a variety of tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK
- GCSE Maths and English at level 2/C or above
- Full UK driving licence
- Safeguarding training
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and following EHCPs / One Page Profiles
- Strong classroom behaviour strategies and teamwork skills
- Reliable, patient and flexible
Preferred
- Level 2 or above qualification in support work for teaching and learning
- Experience with interventions such as sensory diets, Makaton/PECS or Thrive
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or mental health awareness
