SEN Teaching Assistant - 12 Month FTC – Join a supportive and dynamic team.

The Opportunity:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with their learning and general wellbeing, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
  • Establish warm, caring relationships with pupils to promote independence and self-esteem.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering a challenging and differentiated curriculum.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Support transport of students as required, including offsite learning activities such as trips and outdoor education.
  • Contribute to record-keeping, teamwork, and the overall smooth running of the classroom.
  • Assist with care needs and provide support during times of emotional or behavioural challenge.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, ready to assist with a variety of tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK
  • GCSE Maths and English at level 2/C or above
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Safeguarding training
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND and following EHCPs / One Page Profiles
  • Strong classroom behaviour strategies and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, patient and flexible

Preferred

  • Level 2 or above qualification in support work for teaching and learning
  • Experience with interventions such as sensory diets, Makaton/PECS or Thrive
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or mental health awareness
