The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Facilities and Health and Safety Manager to oversee the maintenance and compliance of its facilities. This role ensures that all buildings and services meet regulatory standards, supporting a safe and effective learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee contractors for maintenance and repairs across the school estate.
  • Project manage renovations and estate developments to ensure timely delivery and compliance.
  • Develop and implement a rolling program for preventative maintenance, including managing contracts and schedules.
  • Coordinate with internal and external experts for maintenance in areas such as Legionella, asbestos, electrical testing, and gas safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and inspection frameworks for health and safety.
  • Work closely with the Fire Manager to maintain fire safety equipment and records.
  • Support the Director of Facilities in managing the department and delivering on strategic priorities.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in facilities management for a single site.
  • Experience in delivering projects to quality, cost, and time.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical building services.
  • Ability to manage contractors and project teams effectively.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Leadership and management skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in educational or school environments.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary of £45,000 per annum.
