The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Support Manager, you will lead targeted support for students facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, helping them re-engage with learning. This role combines hands-on intervention, team leadership, and collaboration with staff, families, and external agencies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage targeted support strategies for students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, families, and external agencies to ensure holistic student support.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans that promote student engagement and academic success.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, staff, and parents on pastoral and wellbeing issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral support initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align pastoral strategies with school improvement goals.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and wellbeing policies and procedures.
  • Support the development of staff through training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in pastoral support, student welfare, or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in working with students facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of pastoral care frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training to staff.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and child wellbeing policies.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
