Summary:

Foundation Subjects Lead Teacher role available at a specialist school in Tewkesbury.

About the School:

A specialist school for secondary students aged 11-19 in Worcester and Tewkesbury. The school was established to meet the needs of students with complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and increasingly autism.

The Opportunity:

As a Foundation Subjects Lead Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping and delivering a high-quality, inclusive curriculum that supports students with complex needs. This is an opportunity to lead, inspire and make a meaningful impact on students’ learning, confidence and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of ambitious, accessible and engaging foundation subject curricula.
  • Drive curriculum development across all foundation subjects, modelling best practice and supporting accurate assessment and reporting.
  • Work with senior leaders to develop accreditation routes, qualification pathways and compliant UAS delivery.
  • Build strong, professional relationships that promote engagement, creativity, confidence and wellbeing.
  • Support students with SEMH needs, including autism, to access learning and manage regulation effectively.
  • Champion the school’s ethos, values and cultural capital through subject leadership and whole-school initiatives.
  • Support and develop colleagues through training, CPD and shared subject expertise.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and reporting in line with school policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • QTD or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in teaching foundation subjects
  • Strong leadership and curriculum development skills
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, including autism
  • Ability to manage and coordinate UAS provision

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering vocational courses
  • Experience in supporting students with complex learning needs
  • Experience in leading and mentoring teaching staff
  • Experience in creating bespoke learning programmes
