The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Geography Teacher to join a dynamic department and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, inquiry-based Geography program for Grades 9–12. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students, integrate technology, and shape a curriculum that prepares learners for global challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Geography to Grades 9–12, including AP Human Geography where applicable.
  • Design and implement inquiry-based lessons using GIS tools, thematic case studies, map-reading, and data interpretation.
  • Develop assessments aligned with AP standards, including FRQs and extended response questions.
  • Encourage critical thinking about global issues such as climate change, sustainability, and geopolitics.
  • Incorporate technology like Google Earth and ArcGIS to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, resource creation, and departmental planning.
  • Support student academic progress while maintaining a focus on wellbeing and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Participate in department meetings, cross-curricular initiatives, and school-wide events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Valid teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching high-school Geography; AP teaching experience is a distinct advantage.
  • Strong understanding of inquiry and project-based learning methodologies.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs.
  • Proficient in using digital geography tools and technologies.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Committed to culturally responsive teaching and safeguarding student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum development and resource design.
  • Background in extracurricular leadership or student engagement activities.
  • Familiarity with international curricula and global education trends.
