The Opportunity:

A school is seeking an experienced Chemistry Teacher to deliver the Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum at the High/Secondary School level. This role offers the opportunity to shape student learning, support academic growth, and contribute to a vibrant and innovative science department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Chemistry across Grades 6–12, including AP where applicable.
  • Plan assessments aligned with AP expectations, including free response questions and extended response tasks.
  • Foster critical thinking and independent learning in students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on departmental planning, curriculum development, and resource creation.
  • Maintain high academic standards while promoting student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings and contribute to the smooth running of the department.
  • Share teaching strategies and support professional development within the school.
  • Engage in cross-curricular initiatives and Leadership in Action activities.
  • Stay updated with developments in the subject and education practices.
  • Conduct lesson observations and provide constructive feedback to colleagues.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A university degree in Education, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in education.
  • Valid teaching qualification.
  • Fluent English communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to student wellbeing and cultural responsiveness.
  • Professional attitude and respect for all members of the school community.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching high-school level Chemistry, particularly AP curriculum.
  • Background in inquiry and project-based learning methodologies.
  • Recent involvement in extracurricular activities.
  • Experience with international curricula and standards.
