The Opportunity:

The Head of Compliance will play a vital role in ensuring that all statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements are met across the Trust. This is a strategic position that supports continuous improvement, transparency and accountability, while helping to shape compliance frameworks that align with the Trust’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations are met across all schools and central services
  • Oversee the investigation and reporting of formal complaints, maintaining a robust complaints process
  • Develop and maintain compliance calendars, risk registers and policy frameworks
  • Coordinate audit, inspection and regulatory review activities across the Trust
  • Support leaders, governors and school-based colleagues in maintaining compliance and driving improvement
  • Provide professional challenge and independent assurance to ensure best practice and high standards
  • Translate complex legislative and regulatory requirements into clear operational guidance
  • Promote a culture of compliance, transparency and continuous improvement across the Trust

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in compliance, policy or risk management
  • Significant experience in compliance, regulatory or risk management roles
  • Experience in managing compliance frameworks and assurance processes
  • Strong knowledge of the Academy Trust Handbook, DfE requirements, GDPR, information governance and safeguarding compliance
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret legislation and translate requirements into practical procedures and guidance
  • Commitment to Catholic education and the values of the Trust

Preferred

  • Experience in policy development, drafting and review
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Confidence in providing professional challenge and constructive advice to leaders
