Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Design and Technology department, ensuring it meets high academic and professional standards.
- Develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for the department that aligns with the school’s educational goals.
- Motivate and support colleagues through professional development, mentoring, and collaborative planning.
- Oversee the delivery of a broad and ambitious curriculum that includes 3D design, hospitality and catering, and Computer Science.
- Ensure the effective use of state-of-the-art resources, such as 3D printers, laser engravers, and professional-grade culinary equipment.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring that all students achieve their full potential.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate Design and Technology across the curriculum.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a Design and Technology department.
- Strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology, including 3D design and Food Technology.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of teachers and support staff.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience in leading whole-Academy initiatives or cross-curricular projects.
- Knowledge of industry-standard design and manufacturing technologies.
- Experience with safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Familiarity with the Ofsted inspection framework and best practices in education.
