The Opportunity:

As the Head of History, you will lead the Humanities department and shape the delivery of a dynamic IB DP curriculum. This is a leadership role for an experienced educator passionate about inspiring students and driving academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Humanities department, ensuring alignment with the IB DP curriculum and school mission.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies and assessment practices in History.
  • Coordinate curriculum planning, resource management, and professional development for departmental staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that supports student growth and engagement.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior teachers and support staff.
  • Promote continuous improvement through innovation and best practices in History education.
  • Engage with the wider school community to enhance interdisciplinary learning and student outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, IB standards, and academic requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong knowledge of History within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
  • Proven experience teaching History at the secondary school level.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a department.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and academic excellence.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team within an international school setting.
  • Additional language skills, particularly in Portuguese or other European languages.
  • Familiarity with technology integration in History teaching.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment coordination.
