The Opportunity:

The Head of Modern Foreign Languages will lead a vibrant department and inspire a passion for languages across all key stages. This is a pivotal role for someone with a vision for excellence in teaching and international engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the department that aligns with the school’s mission and international outlook.
  • Teach Spanish at key stages, contributing to the delivery of a rich and diverse curriculum.
  • Oversee and enhance the school’s trips and exchanges programme, promoting internationalism and global citizenship.
  • Support and develop staff through professional learning and collaboration.
  • Contribute to the extra-curricular programme, enhancing student engagement and opportunities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably in Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Strong teaching experience, with a focus on Spanish.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • A relevant qualification in Modern Foreign Languages or a related field.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery at all key stages.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a department or leading a team.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate and GCSE curricula.
  • Experience in developing and leading international exchange programmes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for promoting global citizenship and cultural awareness.
