Summary:

Head of Religious Education needed for a Catholic school with a strong faith-based ethos.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Religious Education, you will lead a dynamic department and play a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual and academic life of the school. This is a unique opportunity to influence the Catholic ethos and ensure high-quality Religious Education across all key stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the RE department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a rigorous RE curriculum aligned with national and diocesan requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Trust Lead on Catholic Life and the Senior Leadership Team to strengthen the Catholic identity of the school.
  • Provide strategic, theological, and pedagogical leadership to support staff development and student engagement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of RE provision, ensuring consistent excellence and student progress.
  • Work closely with primary school RE leads to ensure effective transition from KS2 to KS3.
  • Promote and model the Catholic faith through teaching, leadership, and pastoral care.
  • Participate in whole Trust celebrations and collective worship opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A practising Catholic, committed to the teachings of the Church.
  • Strong experience in teaching Religious Education at all key stages.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
  • Deep understanding of the national curriculum framework for RE in Catholic schools.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
  • Commitment to the holistic development of young people grounded in Gospel values.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a Multi-Academy Trust or similar educational partnership.
  • Knowledge of the Bishop’s Memorandum and Catholic educational principles.
  • Experience in leading curriculum development and staff training.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
