Head of Modern Foreign Languages required from September 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that engages students and supports their academic and personal growth.
  • Support and mentor staff to enhance teaching practices and professional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support to ensure all pupils reach their potential.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate language learning across the curriculum.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including co-curricular and pastoral activities.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and external requirements, including safeguarding and DBS procedures.
  • Promote the school’s values and ethos through teaching and leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Modern Foreign Languages up to A Level.
  • Proven leadership experience, either as a Head of Department or senior teacher.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with digital learning tools and technologies.
  • Experience in co-curricular or pastoral roles.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
