Part Time Classics Teacher or Head of Classics role available from September 2026.

The Opportunity:
Join a forward-thinking Classics department as a Part Time Classics Teacher or Head of Classics, teaching up to A Level Latin and contributing to the school’s vibrant extra-curricular programme. This role offers the chance to inspire students and shape the future of the department, whether as a teacher or department head.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach up to and including A Level Latin with a focus on motivating and stretching all pupils.
- Contribute to the development and management of the Classics department, including leadership responsibilities for the Head of Classics role.
- Support the school’s extra-curricular programme, including Classical Greek.
- Participate in wider school life and contribute to the pastoral and academic success of students.
- Deliver high-quality lessons that encourage independent thought and academic excellence.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and student experience.
- Provide guidance and support to students, both academically and personally.
- Stay up to date with developments in the field of Classics and incorporate innovative teaching methods.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Classics, up to and including A Level Latin.
- Strong classroom management and teaching skills.
- Commitment to student success and a passion for Classics.
- Willingness to contribute to the school’s extra-curricular and pastoral programmes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or managing a team.
- Knowledge of Classical Greek and experience teaching it.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
- Ability to contribute to school-wide initiatives and strategic goals.
- Experience in a co-educational, boarding, or day school environment.
