The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our Prep School team. This role involves covering for staff absence, providing TA support, and assisting with a variety of classroom and administrative tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the learning and development of Prep pupils in a dynamic and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teachers with preparation of resources, displays, and lesson planning.
  • Assist with group work and provide 1-2-1 reading sessions to pupils.
  • Supervise play areas and manage break and lunchtime activities.
  • Maintain records and assessments for students under the guidance of teachers.
  • Provide cover for classroom and other professional duties, including start/end of day supervision and registration.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student growth and development.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance the quality of instruction and student engagement.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all students during school hours.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Proven experience working in a school environment, ideally in a cover role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A caring and enthusiastic approach to working with children.
  • Good standard of education, including English and Maths.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading group activities or managing small groups of students.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and digital tools.
  • Experience with pastoral care or student welfare initiatives.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and strategies for diverse learners.
